Jinx! You Owe Me A Coke

About Moi

Well first off, if you want detailed information, I recommend visiting my personal website, and my about me page that can be found there. This page will be my dolling background, etc etc.

My best friend Sarah, Juno to most of you, got me into dolling in 2007. She's been dolling for waaay longer than me, and I used to see her work and think, what the hell is she doing? At the same time, I always wanted to be able to draw, but my hand offers no talent in the "usual art" department. *tear* lol I don't even remember the first time I decided to try dolling, what made me think I could do it and what not, but I'm glad I did, cause now it consumes at least 1/4 of my life, lol I'm still not very good, but I pass as 'ok' so I don't complain much.  I don't know if I could pinpoint the exact day I started, but we'll say May 30, 2007, because that's the day I opened my first dolling website over at Geocities, under the temporary name 'Malevolent Sweets', an old screen name from High School.  I eventually came to the conclusion that 'Jinx! You Owe Me A Coke' was the perfect long-term name for my website, because I have so many interests and I bring them all together in one place on my site! Not to mention I'm a Coca Cola fiend *scratches neck* lol  So it all seemed to come together and fit!

<<< My first doll! Juno pretty much walked me, step-by-step, through it, but obviously it paid off! ;) Thank you Juno!! *muah* I would never have made it as far as I have if it wasn't for her and her relentless support and patience :P hehe

I use MS Paint for anything pixel related, or otherwise actually, but one day I hope to master Adobe Photoshop  My ultimate goal though is to conquer hair! I get by only by doing the bare minimum to be "ok" but I want my hair to be spectacular!! ^_' Who doesn't, right? lol But no... one day...! *shakes fist at air* I'll kick some awesome hair ass!! *shwing* Gosh I ramble... x_x

I prefer pixel shading to tool shading, not because I think tool shading "isn't art" but just because I think it's on a different level. I just, personally, enjoy pixel shading more. *shrugs* (DISCLAIMER: please don't be offended by my opinion on this, I know it's a heated argument among some, I think they're both great ways to doll and don't have any problem with dolls that have been tool shaded. Please don't assume I'm attacking tool shading or put any other ridiculous words in my mouth ) It's sad that I have to cover my ass but it's better than having people jump on me for something they assume I said "between the lines" *sigh* Moving on... The dolls scattered around this page, in my personal opinion, are my best works so far, because overall they're just cool! :P The treasure map was so much fun to do and I was inspired by the Denny's commercial with the pirate who swings in "TREASURE!!!" Hahahaha *slaps knee* Hilarious! But yea... I just think it turned out really well, and the base is cuter than hell to boot! ;) Good times. The two dolls above are from a Past Present Future contest I ran, and that's Past and Future *proud* I think they both came out pretty spiffy looking!

I don't tend to doll anything bloody, full of gore, or majorly gothic either... I don't avoid those on purpose, they just never occur to me *shrugs* I'm one of those more happy-all-the-time people that piss emo kids off ;) haha I'm sarcastic and love to laugh so I guess that probably explains what kind of dolls I lean toward  Muahaha! I like all colors but my favorites are Green, Brown, Orange, and Red. Green and Blue have, for some reason, become my "signature" colors, I'm assuming because my name stems from Aurora Borealis (the northern lights) and they're usually seen blue and green... yea... I love the colors together so it's not a bad thing, I just can't track the how and when lol *shrugs* Oh yea... my dolling name is Aurora ^_' Guess I probably should have mentioned that sooner... oiy! And on that note: Hello, my name is Katie  *secret hand shake* I'm 23 years old (birthday: April 14, 1986) That's me >>> My dolling name stems from a character in a story I was co-writing with a friend, a pseudo-ego if you will; so it made sense for me to simply use that. :) Plus she's my favorite Disney princess (well her and Belle are tied... but that's another website haha)

It takes me a pretty long time to doll, I normally do everything but the hair, intimidate myself, put it off, and then a few days later, finally get around to finishing it.  Thankfully, I seem to be getting over that nowadays. Rock on! I'm a perfectionist, so that could have something to do with it too... Juno can do a whole doll, and have it look splendiforous in half the time I finish one, and mine only looks half as good, if even. I'm jealous

Hmmm.... I have no idea what else to talk about and I've already stretched this page full of crap nobody cares about, lol, so I'll leave you with my favorite doll(s)... not necessarily my best *shrugs* These are the Disney hunks, decked out in not-so-hot chibiness lol ;P In movie timeline order, the Prince from Snow White, Prince Charming from Cinderella, Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty, Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid, Beast from Beauty & the Beast, and Aladdin from Aladdin! Their hair fought me and won (except for Beast's... he's perfection ) but other than that I'm in love with them all  But yea... Now I'm done, I promise ;P Thanks for reading this far.

If anyone has any questions, or any suggestions on any more information I should add to this page, contact me and let me know and I'll add it or get back to you pronto!
